Decapitated Tortise

Cayden's comfort toy - Tortise has finally served its term to the fullest...

Its head almost came off while Mama was toying with it in the car yesterday! Mama kept apologising to Cayden and was prepared for his cries n screams etc. Luckily, Cayden laughed it off too, telling Mama to take Tortise's head if she wanted.

Cayden has grown up... :) RIP Tortise.

Ponyo and Cayden

Ponyo (崖の上のポニョ, Gake no Ue no Ponyo, literally "Ponyo on the Cliff") is a 2008 Japanese animated fantasy film. The plot centers on a goldfish named Ponyo who befriends a five-year-old human boy, Sōsuke, and wants to become a human girl.... This is one show that Aunty Yangming and Cayden would watch repeatedly.

Even though Cayden doesn't spend too much time in Singapore, one of the trips he made back last year was something worth highlighting. Grandfather (as how Cayden would affectionally address Ah Gong when he speaks to us in English) bought him 3 gold fishes. Unfortunately the smaller one and the one with the slight tinge of black on the fins died before CNY this year...

I thought it would be interesting to share the names of these gold fishes except i didn't know which name to tag to the 3 goldfishes:

Earlier this month, Cayden was with his parents in a mall and bumped into their friendswho were there celebrating their anniversary. So the hubby sms-ed Papa YT and asked them to help him buy a bouquet of roses and send to the restaurant to surprise his wife. So they started on their mission, found a florists and got the flowers! Gosh, the flowers were expensive! One stalk of big rose costs S$10!!! The hubby initially asked for 70 roses, then changed his mind to 10 roses. :) They got Cayden to send to the restaurant (with his parents walking behind him ). The bouquet apparently a bit big for him to carry, he couldnt really see his way....!

The other pic was with a F1 car on display in the mall.... It was part of Abu Dhabi 's promotion of holding F1 for the 2nd year.

Last Saturday, Uncle Sam and I brought Cayden out for the Barney concert while his parents were out in Taiwan holidaying but Ashton couldn't come along because he was too young. When we reached home, Uncle Sam took the chance to feed Ashton as he did not understand why Grandma always seem to struggle with feeding Ashton everyday. So he finally got it. Ashton is a relatively playful kid. The strategy is you have to be patient and get him focus on drinking his milk! Sounds quite a rocket science issue...??

Anyways, after feeding, we played with Ashton... so Aunty Yang Ming decided to give Ashton a different look. Maybe to surprise his parents when they are back! How about some curls on his head...? Seems like the ladies on the Taiwanese variety shows can't live without such "donut scrunchies"!

And how would Ashton look like with straight fringe like Cleopatra...? oops... fringe fell back - but the idea is there!

I think he is most comfortable this way!

I spent the evening over at Clementi last evening. First, reading books to Cayden with Uncle Sam and then slept in the same room as Ashton. I actually didn't really spend the evening playing with him. Anyway, at 3 am today, Cayden woke up Grandma and I and requested for milk. Grandma took care of him while I went back to Ashton's room and continued my sleep. But I couldn't really sleep well as Ashton was laughing and crying in his sleep. I had to pacify him by patting his chest. I woke up at 7 am and saw this... which I thought was funny but kinda dangerous too!

Mom, Cayden, Uncle Sam, Feng Ge, Aunty Yangming and I went Tony Romas at Orchard Road yesterday for dinner. We had a sumptous dinner! Infact, an over dosage of ribs and we decided that it's not a place we'll visit in the next two months... :)

We've ordered three sets of combo dinner meal, one set of appetitizer and 4 bottles of rootbeer. The soft white baguette came free flow too... Cayden had a bowl of onion soup that he shared with all.

All's well you think?

Unfortunately not! Before he turned in for the night, he laid on the bed with grandpa and started complaining to him that we ordered food for ourselves but not for him! He didn't have rice too and he was hungry by bed time...

The Impact of the New Oven...

The Canon Ixy Digital camera had been a wonderful purchase last Dec! Cayden has been exploring with the camera and snapping away each time the camera is in his hand. :) He did not know that the camera has some wonderful features including color switching and accentuating. When he realised those functions, he insisted on taking photos! We started with taking some normal photos that he willingly cooperated. :) So lovely!

Finally the fun started! Cayden wanted to turn green like the Keroppi Frog on the bed! Ta Da -

Then he said he wanted to be as red as the curtains in his bedroom... His wish was my command!

Cayden went around the room pointing at the color he wishes to turn to! He pointed at something blue and he turned into Avatar the next moment!

Oops... not exactly that blue. Let's try again!

The 17th Century Spanish Warship Replica at Vivocity

On 5 June, Papa YT, Cayden, Yangming, Uncle Sam and I went Vivocity and we chanced upon a 17th century spanish warship replica that berthed outside the mall. Since the ship was opened to the public for touring, we went aboard. This replica is majestic in my opinion. I envied these countries with rich history to flaunt. I wished we could permanently have one in Singapore.

A rustic bell which Cayden touched and had his hand covered with a layer of the green algae. :)

The 30 minutes tour was rather tiring hence we decided to go for a break at a dessert shop in Vivocity on ground floor. It was rather disappointing by my standards but looks like Cayden thinks otherwise...

We ordered the glutinous rice with mango and coconut milk and mango pomelo. Cayden didn't quite enjoy the pomelo dish. He complained about bitterness...

We ended the day with dinner at "Zhen Fa Live Seafood" at Sunset Way. Dinner was awesome! Mama could not joined as her maternity confinement was not over yet. We did promise her to bring her there soon. We all missed the alfresco dining ambience. :) We decided that Uncle Chris and Aunty Janet would agree with us too... we are all looking forward to their return to Singapore soon. :)

Fried rice... not bad! Preferably to eat with the Sambal chilli...

Cayden's imagine has been running quite wild lately. On Sunday, he told me he remembered Aunty Janet's dog in Australia and it's name is Honey. He didn't know that Honey has a new friend called Harry. Cayden decided to get himself a dog and named it Cabbage! Cabbage is grandpa's bolster.... and Cayden drags it around like he is walking the dog. Haha!

Celebrating Ashton's Full Month

It's nearly a month since Ashton arrived! I thought we were rather low key in the manner we've entertained guests and arranging for the ritual full month celebration but that kept yesterday rather busy for us. I felt really bad for not blogging as much about him compared to when Cayden first arrived.

Ashton grew and has the chubby cheeks his older brother has since his first month. It's lovely to see how Ashton grew... He has been a lovely baby! He doesn't cry as much as Cayden and even if he cries, he is really gentle. A stark contrast to his short tempered brother. Hope he will be a positive influence to little Cayden!

I did something horrible yesterday and today today, I tested Cayden's love for Ashton and did so by asking Ashton to be brought back to MY home. Cayden was very sure that he didn't allow that to happen and insisted that I cannot bring Ashton home. He said,"I like Ashton. You cannot bring him home." *SWEET* Yesterday, on our way from Vivocity back home, I told Cayden that it was not possible to fit the family into the car, and if Ashton and Mum had to join us for dinner, we have to leave Ashton in the carboot or leave him on the roof of the car. He got very worried and started dispelling those thoughts from my mind by sharing that it will be dangerous to leave Ashton on the roof. He was worried Ashton would fall from the roof and hurt himself. *NICE BABY*

On the other hand, Cayden seemed to have developed exceptionally fast in the area of conceptualising and thinking! Uncle Sam and I have been brain storming on how to deal with this fellow who has loads of thoughts going through his mind. Reasoning is definitely very crucial in our daily interaction with him... :) Like many other smart children, taking instructions is something not happening each time already. You need to help him understand why decisions are made like that... PHEW! He has been telling me that he decided to take some actions because "my brain told me to so.". I nearly fainted from hearing these coming from a 3 year told...

Housekeeper Koh

Cayden has been rather busy playing the role as an attentive brother to Ashton! On Saturday, after multiple requests, he was finally allowed to carry Ashton. The request was carried out in the safest environment we could find at home. :) Papa YT was behind Cayden and they were both sitting on a mattress laid on the floor. There were pillows, cushions and blankets around them anyway... Cayden did the most extraordinary thing - funny face throughout the few minutes he was holding onto Ashton. He is actually quite a monkey... an adorable one!!!

Apart from holding Ashton, Cayden offered his service to Mama Irene when it was time to feed Ashton. He held onto the bottle while baby was being transferred into Mummy's arms. He acted according to all instructions given and took tissue as a bib for his brother. I was told that when he returned from school on Friday, he rushed into the room and greeted his brother. Cayden told his brother he is back home. *SWEET*

There would never be a dull moment with Cayden around even though there is a newborn at home. Despite reminders to keep quiet, Cayden was unable to settle down. It did seem that he is very happy and excited with all people at home and a new brother to love. So he tried to be funny by wearing his pj on his head. We thought he looked like a nun.... Hahaha!

The Routine

Reality finally sank in with Ashton's arrival back home. Grandma, Mama Irene and Papa YT has been busy with the frequent feeds Ashton needed anytime throughout the day and into the nights.

Belching a new born is such a funny scene to watch! I am already imagining how people will be laughing at this photo if Ashton were to put it up on his Wedding day at the dinner reception. He will hate me for snapping this. :)

We are hoping that Ashton's umbilica cord will drop off soon now that his poo has finally turned normal brown color on Saturday. It's really funny to see another baby Cayden at home. We've been discussing how Ashton looks like Cayden from certain or rather most angles. We are all just so glad to be seeing Ashton sleeping peacefully like an angel and smiling in his sleep each time after his feed. :) LOVELY!

The Day Ashton Went Home...

ASHTON KOH!

Yup! Cayden is promoted to Older Brother officially on Tuesday 11 May 2010! To add onto the joy of receiving a little brother, Cayden received a greeting pressie from little Ashton! He loves both the kiddo and pressie!

Initially he seems to detest the idea of another kid being identified as baby... but when he met Ashton in person, all our worries were confirmed unfound. On Tuesday evening, the entire entourage village paid a visit to Mama Irene and Baby Ashton at Mt. Alvernia. :)

It's rather surprising that Cayden holds the following expressions whenever we plans visit to the hospital in the last two days. I swear he really gives that look whenever he talks about visiting Ashton. LOVELY! :) Seems that he likes the new baby that he even asked his dad to bring another baby into the room from the nursery ward. :) He even raised his own hands out to try carrying Ashton but was politely declined... Oops... when he is older then you will get your chance Cayden!

He did not decline any of our requests to take picture with his little brother.

So Cayden gave Ashton a peck on his face! Too fast, my camera didn't capture that moment!

We make a trip to Mt. Alvernia this evening again. :) Ashton wasn't at the ward his mum is resting in. So he requested us to bring him to the nursery ward where the other babies were staying with Ashton. :)

Day 2 in School!

And the work he did today in school. He did the coloring on the duck and wore the hat out from playschool and all the way back home. Cayden shared with his mum that he played "charlie the choo choo train" with the duck hat on. He was very happy talking abt it. :)

Visit to Papa YT's Office

The first weekend of April was rather a "dream-come-true" for Cayden. He was given the opportunity to visit Papa YT's office after many months of questioning what Papa does at work everyday and how does his office looks like. The computer pipherals at each workstation acted as very good props for Cayden's phototaking session. Haha! He took photos with the telephone and mouse at Papa's desk. He returned to Singapore sharing with pride about his brief visit to Papa's office. :)

Cayden had shared his plans about going to office to work since he is a grown up. On occassions, he even pretended to go office carrying decks of flashcards as his brief case and used the calculator as a computer. :) Haha!

Cayden is Going School!

Been so busy at work that Auntie Linda hardly had time in the past 2 months to blog! Anyway, Cayden is back in town and will be attending play school tomorrow! He will be spending about 2 hours (if i don't recall incorrectly) on weekdays at the school. Lessons start at 11:30 am (Uncle Sam reminded me!). Hopefully, he will be able to blend in well and enjoy himself. :)

School means wearing school uniforms. ^_^ Preview of how he would enjoy himself in school on day 1! But he is not able to bring along his favourite blue color long long pillow!

He will be given a bag and school materials when he turned up for school tomorrow. This school is certainly not any pretigious one but we are sure that Connoisseur looks pretty excited about starting this new phase in life!

2nd Visit to the Dentist

Cayden's first visit to the dentist wasn't fruitful as he wasn't able to take instructions properly then. His 2nd visit after 6 months was definitely much better! At least Connoisseur is brave enough to lie on the chair alone and let the dentists examine and clean his teeth! Well done Cayden!

Looks like he was nervous but he cooperated anyway. :)

Simple Pleasures in Life

Eating durian is one of the simple pleasures in life which the entire family enjoys including Cayden. In his last trip back to Singapore, he savoured durian each time Grandpa luggs back 2 plastic bags full of fruit. Though he hates the burping smell from everyone at home, like all of us, Cayden could not resist eating them. He loves the fleshy fruit with tiny seeds in it. He's still trying to learn the rope in "cleaning" up the seed before trashing it away.

Durians are finger licking good!

We've tried introducing the tradition way in relieving "heatiness" from over dosage of durians. He seems to enjoy it too! :)

Cruise Trip Day 1 - Check In

Half the family went off on a 4 day cruise to Penang and Phuket between 21 and 24 Feb. It was so fun! Grandpa, Grandma, Papa YT, Mama Irene, Cayden, Uncle Sam and Aunty Linda stayed onboard the cruise on the 10th floor. While Cayden shared a room with grandparents, he had direct access to Papa and Mama through the connecting door. Uncle Sam and I shared a room on the other side of floor. Here are some photos taken after check in and before lunch. :)

The majestic cruise liner from the jetty. :) Passengers were ushered along the long corridor at the Cruise Center to the cruise liner. The Starcruise Mascot caught hold of all passengers who cleared the custom for phototaking. Regulars already developed their way of rejecting these overly friendly staffs. Photos taken were sold at $12 each! Cayden was obviously excited about getting onboard Virgo.

After much struggle to breakfree from the grip of the Cruise Mascot, we finally entered the cruise's lobby on 7th Floor! We were welcomed by glasses of champagne. The lobby decors are really nice! Cayden took photos with Papa and Mama as well as Uncle Sam.

We proceeded straight to our respective rooms. Cayden couldn't understand why we were assigned a different room and insisted on visiting Uncle Sam and my HOUSE! What enticed him to come over was probably that pack of cuttlefish we had in our hands... so nonsense started in the house! They tried to pass each other the cuttlefish through their mouth... so Cayden accidentally bit Uncle Sam's lip!

So we had a bashing good time last evening!

Cayden wore the Lighting McQueen and Sally t-shirt I bought for him which he fitted nicely into. And the birthday décor hasn’t changed since his first birthday. We took out the same birthday banner used last year (really value for money – Haha!). I promise to get something more fanciful next year alright?! Something like Barney and Friends face masks…

We started the party with a wonderful dinner prepared by Grandma and Aunty Janet consisting of agar agar, fishmaw-sharksfin soup, abalone salad, prawn fritters and fried chicken wings! It wasn’t an exceptionally sumptuous dinner but it was good enough with everyone seated around the table sharing the food. The significance is considerably more important than anything else. Cayden blew the candles on his birthday cake and served pieces of cakes to all at home. :) He also received presents from everyone. *Sweet* OH! Did I mention...? The carplate number on the cake send some money into Grandpa's pocket. He struck 4D (some tiny winnings) last evening.....

I played a little prank on Cayden (approvals given by all at home)… I bought a pack of magic candles (essentially candles that are able to re-lite even after flame is gone). Connoisseur was rather impressed initially but got fedup by the time the candle relit the 4th time.

It was an exceptionally good celebration this year considering Cayden’s flair for phototaking whenever we requested that he looks at the camera. All the pretend-to-take-a-bite-off-the-cake looks were too precious to be given amiss!

Happy Chinese New Year!!! Here are some random photos taken yesterday before Cayden goes for his visiting. :) I bought him the tie from Espirit which I thought looked quite nice with his other tops and so Cayden thought it's time for him to start working in offices after the CNY holidays ended. He's such a big boy these days. He knew it was not too good an idea to be showing too much of his personal front. On Monday, he visited papa's friend (aka Uncle Paul) at Holland Road and laid on the couch immediately after he entered the house - pretty much lifeless as his nap time arrives. So Mama asked if he wants his "treasures" (aka pacifier and the smelly tortise). His response, "No. I don't want du-du and tortise.". He paused and said continued, "pai say." and that's embarassed in Hokkien.

These days Cayden poses infront of the camera. He knew exactly what to do without too much prompting e.g tuck his hands into the front pockets of his sweatshirt. :) There's a photo of him with an elephant statue. He posed next to the elephant on his way up to a Japanese resturant in 1 of the hotels over in Dubai.

There is this other series of photo with him posing in front of the camera. They visited Global Village (http://www.globalvillage.ae/) which opens for only three months each year and only during the winter months! In short, there's too much land in Dubai! Cayden visited friends of Papa and Mama over Christmas and they had a party! I wonder if the appearance of Bunny Boy is the highlight of the evening. :) I just have to lament how much I have missed out those fun moments in Dubai!

This is his second first Christmas in Dubai! The year before, he was still so tiny and was awaiting to move over to Dubai - if I don't recall wrongly. This year, he could also engage in some serious conversations with you... Here are some shots from Dubai. He received christmas gifts fm papa and mama! It seemed that Cayden thoroughly enjoyed unwrapping his presents and discovering the joy beneath it! :)

New Year New Shoes

Cayden has grown so much taller and needs new shoes! Mama and Papa bought him new shoes in Dubai. The left pair replaces his current Nike shoes while the sandal replaces his pair of red Crocs. He has to wear something about 18 cm these days.

Btw, Uncle Sam and Aunty Linda bought him another nice pair from Japan. Show you photos later... It's brown and pastel blue in color. Very nice pair which Uncle Sam also likes very much. It's fortunate that we bought Cayden the biggest pair available in the store though I have to admit that at the point of purchase, my hunch tells me Cayden won't be able to wear it until 1 year later... We shall see when he returns to Singapore for CNY this year. :)

Uncle Sam and Aunty Linda are in Kyushu Japan spending their Christmas and New Year here. :) Bought a bit of gifts for everyone... including Gandpa, Aunty Janet, Aunty Yangming and little Cayden! I think Mama Irene and Papa YT will get food instead. :P Have not spotted anything exciting for Uncle Chris and Feng Ge though...

Aunty Linda caught a cold and hasn't been in the best shape to eat and do shopping. She decided not to buy the Blue Label bag she spotted in Parco at Kumamoto. Instead, she found a cheaper bargain at GAP! A furry haversack and a leather belt - all that costed her 1400 yen. :) The trip to Muji hasn't been great. Bought herself a thin thermal top as well as 2 blusher powder and 2 sticks of lip gloss.... everything in Japan is expensive these days owing to the high Japanese exchange rate. :(

Anyway... more to blog when I have the time... Time to sleep. Catching a train to Beppu tomorrow at 8:30 am Japan time... that means I have to wake up to take brekkie and do my final pack up at 5:30 am SGP time. Japan is an hour ahead of Singapore.

He seems to be really happy lugging the oversized paper bag. What can I say? Courtesey movement is on and spreaded over to Dubai too! In addition, Connoisseur has grown more and is able to identify who needs help.

Shopping aside, he has been busy with housework too! The other day, the gondola was hanging outside the apartment and the gondoliers were busy cleaning the building. Cayden realized he should have helped clean up the apartment and so….

Cayden hasn't been exactly the most well behaved boy but we must give him credits for being able to express his emotions. Lately, he developed the bad habbit of sleeping with lights turned on. Hi all, I am finally BACK IN ACTION! Been quite busy in the month of September! Anyways, Cayden returned back to Dubai last week... Somehow a part of Uncle Sam and me seems lost now that we really have nothing to do over the weekends. Uncle Sam's Birthday @ Sentosa

Aunty Linda is freaking busy lately hence the missing in action! Earlier this month, we celebrated Uncle Sam’s birthday. It was over simple buffet dinner at One Degree 15 at Sentosa. The dinner was abit of a disappointment as the variety of food was not exactly pleasing. Anyway, we checked out the club compound before heading towards the restaurant for dinner. Cayden enjoyed his mini-roe maki and pickles. He had abit of the bbq pork as well as the cold crabs. Basically he ate abit of everything from the appetizers to the main courses (fried prawn ball, grilled fishes, chicken, vegetables) to the desserts (durian puree, nonya kuehs and coconut pudding!).

We headed home with a super filling stomach and couldn’t do the traditional birthday cake cutting at the sentosa. Cayden and Uncle Sam had a bit of fun acting silly while posing in front of the camera before cutting the cake.

Dentist-Uncle-Sam

Cayden visited a dentist some weeks back but it was quite a wasted trip. He refused to open his mouth wide and long enough for polishing and cleaning. The Pedia-Dentist (?? ha! new name) only mentioned that Cayden needs to get his teeth cleaned regularly or the milk stains remain. Since then, the entire family had been working hard to clean Cayden’s teeth using different methods and one of the most successful one is cleaning his teeth with his face towel. Dentist Uncle Sam had been pretty successful (at least two successful attempted recorded in video) in getting Cayden lying down and cleaned his teeth.

Cayden has been talking to Dad and Mum over video conferencing almost every other day. Mum taught him a new trick - using his toes touching his nose! I couldn't figured out the joy in this game/exercise. He did so but realised he wasn't able to do so with his right left and he concluded that it was because of the leg fractured when he first arrived. We really wondered if he really remembered how uncomfortable he was during his first month. It could possibly be he overheard the adults conversation too... The walls indeed have ears. :)

SuperStar in the Making

Cayden is preparing to participate in the different types of singing competition. Not only he tried practice public singing at the common place in front of our block, he made Grandpa bring him up onto the stone platform and Grandpa to listen to him at ground level. He has been practising chinese folks songs... the best part was he didn't allow anyone to sing along and needed everyone to listen and clap along.

He also did a chinese pop genre by Jolin Tsai and the song goes something like this, "I don't want a boyfriend. I need a real man!".

On certain occassions, Cayden prefers singing English nursery rhymes and he quite likes the Wendy song from Bob The Builder.

Cayden hasn't been very consistent in brushing his teeth and this is worrying everyone at home. Yet Connoisseur believes he has a BEAUTIFUL set of teeth albeit alittle yellow... In an effort to encourage him to brush teeth, we adopted the "threatening method" that if he fails to keep proper dental hygience, he runs the risks of losing all his teeth to the dentist. This method seems effective.. We coupled the threatening method with "fun" by introducing him those dental equipment and he seems to be receptive of the toys. :)

We figured out maybe Connoisseur prefers to be a doctor because Cayden remembers the two doctors he has visited lately and they are Pediatrician Dr. Simon Ng and General Practitioner Doctor Chia (@ Clementi). He helped us with bandage, fed us with medicine, heard out breathing through stesthescope and operated on the soft toys too! He did everything quite professionally intially with all the gears on him.

In the recent weeks, Cayden seems to be aware of this application "Microsoft Messenger Live" all thanks to Mummy Irene doing live chat with us during office hours. He noticed the presence of different pictures representing the different users of the application in a window. Yesterday, while Mummy Irene was chatting away with Aunty Janet, Cayden spotted some funny emoticons on MSN Live and he started mimicking them!

There are 2 emoticons that Cayden can't get off his mind... (1) the monkey that sighs and, (2) the botak character that beats his chest (indicating me!).

The rest of the evening was spent listening to songs and dancing! Connoisseur came up with a Jelly Fish dance that he made Uncle Sam do with him...

Lately, there seems to be plenty of responses to a public wide appeal to help a 4 year old girl Charmaine Lin. Charmaine has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma. She is currently in the 4th stage and fighting hard. My heart felt really heavy after reading bits of the blog dedicated to her. The photos of her in her balding head just shows how much a fighter she is! I must say that Charmaine's mom is as equally strong if not stronger than the little one. May they win the battle against the illness!

We were at ECP about three weekends ago with original intention to go inline skating but we abandoned the plan since Cayden was with us. Cayden had fun time playing with sand in his crocs! Too bad we didn't bring his little denim hat along so we made do with Uncle Sam's cap. Cayden really has a big head! Uncle Sam tried to add fun to the entire activity by involving Cayden to bury a piece of dried leaf. Connoisseur tried throwing sand at us. I was worried if he threw the sand too high up and that the sand may fly into his eyes.....

Morning at Pasir Ris Beach

Last Wednesday (16 Jun), Cayden stayed over at Uncle Sam's place. Before he slept, he said he wanted to go to the beach and the next morning we did as what he wished. We brought him to Pasir Ris Beach where there was a mini horse stable and so Cayden saw horses of different colors and sizes.

We finally made a brief stop by the beach as the weather was getting hotter by the day. Did I mention we reached the beach at about 11 am?! So Cayden and Uncle Sam squatted by the beach (under a pathetic coconut tree with minimal shade) and started playing with the sand digging tools that belongs to Cayden!

In about 15 minutes, we started walking back to the carpark. It's a funny video! Cayden did some funny walking moves... and of course, see how he reacts when he smells the horses poo. :D

Do you think Cayden enjoyed himself....?

There were only a few songs Cayden could associate with and one of them being Incy Wincy Spider. Check out how Cayden followed the rhythms in most songs he heard at the concert. So funny! He had fun singing along as well as swaying along with the rhythms of the songs. Btw, the lightsticks didn't come cheap - $5 for two light sticks... He loves the green one though!

Finally, he saw Barney...! But he was irritated when the light from the camera broke the darkness in the area we were seated. :D Check out how absorbed he was when watching his idols!

There were a few slow numbers performed during the concert. Cayden swayed along gently with Uncle Sam. Though he meets Angelina Ballerina for the first time during the concert, we supposed he enjoyed listening to their music albeit he was struggling to keep awake from his afternoon nap. If he were to asked to comment on something, he would either give a thumbs up or down to conclude his thoughts about some thing, people or food. Grown Up Boy

Apart from celebrating Grandpa's birthday last Saturday at the Mushroom Pot, we also took the opportunity to visit Leisure Park. Considerable time were spent at the Cherry cars roadshow though we tried to enjoy some drinks at the HK cafe on Level 1. There is this giftshop directly opposite the HK cafe which I thought wasn't really children friendly. They laid their toy cars infront of the shop attracting children to spend time there... Cayden was stuck there and refused to leave the shop and trying out all the toy cars laid there. While I was queuing, I hnd something breaking and i turned around... Uncle Sam was picking up the pieces of plastic car parts from the floor and poor Cayden was dumbfounded and shocked standing behind Uncle Sam... Fortunately, the car parts were detachable and we didn't have to part with $12.90 for the lousy toy car! As all may anticipate, Cayden got an earful from Uncle Sam though his heart yearns to go back to the shop again... Finally after much counselling, Cayden spoke to me and said that he would go back to the shop with his hands behind his back and he promised to just walk around the shop! He did it (see 4th photo below)!!!! I was impressed......!

After accidentally breaking the toy car, Cayden went quiet Uncle Sam went ahead to lecture him.... Cayden could not and would not talk back at all....

The next day, we brought Cayden out for a haircut and he cried... I had to carry him while the hair stylist does her work. Fortunately Cayden didn't struggle much and kept his eyes fixed on the tiny TV screen in front of the seat. The haircut was over in 10 minutes and we allowed Cayden to shop at Toys R Us. The irony is the very excited Uncle Sam and I kept introducing toys to Cayden but he kept telling us "No. Put back!"... We really felt ashamed as each toy gets rejected by Cayden. :-) Finally, we left VivoCity with a water gun and an extremely traditional water toy that requires winding before the bee flaps its wings. :) Cayden actually rejected both toys before...

Cayden had a hair cut and got a balloon as part of his visit to the hair salon!

Looks like Uncle Sam is more excited to be at Toys R' Us....

We headed back home for dinner with Grandparents and as part of my initiative to encourage him to hold back his tears while getting his hair cut, I offered him an ice cream. Judging at how children usually handle the ice cream stick, most adults would not allow children to hold onto an ice cream all to themselves and invite the hassle of cleaning them up. Uncle Sam and I did exactly that and little did we know, we pissed Cayden off and he convinced himself that the stick of ice cream was not worth it! This process of internalising the anger and converting his thoughts into a negative or opposite believe is the least of what we have expected... but we also worry about handling and teaching this kid. Haiz!

Grandpa's Birthday... @ Mushroom Pot

We had a mini birthday celebration for Grandpa on Saturday at Mushroom Pot at Indoor Stadium. Everyone enjoyed the meal that consisted of very delicious jellyfish starter, steamboat with variety of mushrooms, meat and vegetables, two cooked dishes including Tibetian pork ribs and fried calamari. Cayden loves the fried calamari - check out the second video. :)

We are planning to go back to the restaurant again in a bigger entourage and maybe pay for their buffet dinner. The guys at home surely can eat more and we all enjoy a wider variety of food cooked in their very nice herbal soup base. :)

We were at Kallang Indoor Stadium last Saturday to celebrate Grandpa's birthday. There was this van he sat in and wanted everyone to get onto the car (see photo below). He tried to check out the number of seats and wanted Grandpa, Grandma and the Aunties to get in... A hunky driver in the making huh...? Still we did not get up onto the car as we were too embarassed to do so!

See for yourself if he is able to identify the distinctive car parts... I was impressed. Within 5 minutes, Cayden recognised and familiarised himself with the 4 parts. :)

Cayden picked up many new songs lately and one of them being DINGO! The association with animal makes it easier for him to remember this song better. :)

Unbelievable! Cayden has been talking so much and they all make senses..........

Today, I bought 5 sets of flash cards for Cayden and we had a great evening exploring the pictures on the flash cards. His favourite set of cards is "Transport" and he could identify alot of the vehicles. The other favourite deck of cards relates to daily necessities. Check out the following video and his expression around 2 minutes 40 seconds when we started talking about sweets and ice-cream.

Cayden was so proud of his own achievements that he started mimicking how we praise him... I nearly fainted!

The hokkien boy is coming back tomorrow morning!

Why did I say Cayden is a hokkien boy? Oh my... he picks up many hokkien "vocabs" lately. For example:

Char Bor Lang (woman)
Dar Bor Lang (man)
Or Qi (visible bruise)
Gum Sia (thank you)

Infact, Cayden picked up more rubbish. The other day, Cayden's Mom tried to break the seal of a new bottle of mineral water bottle. She let out a "Oh!". Cayden immediately turned his attention to Mum, frowned and said,"Shit. Oh my God.*". *Witness by Aunty YangMing in Dubai.

Regretfully, Uncle Sam and Aunty Linda have not gotten anything for Cayden. I believe Aunty Yang Ming is stuck in the same situation.... Anyway, he has alot of things to keep him occupied while we decide on his present.

Celebrating His 2nd Birthday

Cayden celebrated his 2nd lunar birthday as he will not be in town on his actual calendar year birth date (21 Feb 09). We held the party at Edelweiss and the whole entourage was there to celebrate the joyous occasion. Grandpa, Grandma, Papa YT, Mama, Bottle Yi (Aunty Janet), Uncle Chris, Uncle Sam, Aunty Linda, Xiaoahyi (Aunty YangMing) and Feng Ge were around. It was just another occasion to feast. Cayden arrived at Edelweiss and spent time at the swimming pool before the feasting starts. Grandma and Bottle Yi whipped out dishes including sharks’ fins, grilled chicken wing, Chinese sausages, garlic prawns and spring rolls.

I decorated the dining area with the birthday banner I bought 2 years ago and some balloons. Cayden loved the balloons and got so distracted during swimming when he saw Xiaoahyi and me waving at him with the balloons from the living room overlooking the swimming pool. After washing up from the swim, Cayden started exploring the apartment again and spotted Uncle Sam’s toy helicopter and yellow monster truck or SUV. He went hesterical! Uncle Sam tried to distract him by playing balloons with Cayden that worked temporarily though.

The entire party would not be complete without the birthday cake for Cayden. It was a “Barney and Friends” blueberry cake from Prima Deli. Cayden loves the look and the taste of the cake!

The day before Cayden returned to Dubai, I spent the late morning and entire afternoon with Cayden. Some heart breaking moments include the following confession from Cayden! He prefers Uncle Sam to me. Uncle Sam was hardly around to play with Cayden while he returned... but still his heart went out to Uncle Sam. HUMPFFF!
