A Healthy Baby

Two days back, Cayden made a visit to the pediatric (perhaps cum orthopedic) clinic for his annual bone review. He had to make this trip a year after he was placed in cast for a fractured on his thigh bone. Fortunately, there were no long term complications on his development despite the fracture. Cayden is a healthy baby! :)

As of 20 Feb 08, Cayden weighed 9.8 kg and is standing tall at 75 cm. The readings are classified in the 75 percentile. His head circumference is about 45 cm and is considered to be in the 50 percentile. As of today, he has about 8 teeth too and more are appearing. Woo Hoo!

His brain is developing well too. He enjoys playing flash cards and will focus on the cards as soon as someone sits in front of him with the set of Fruit & Vegetable flash cards. The sense of satisfaction in educating Cayden using the flash cards is extremely rewarding. Majority of the time Cayden could identify the fruits or vegetables we wanted him to point out. I supposed he was distracted with other matters if he couldn't get the answer right (I could be wrong though...).

In a sms I received from Mummy Irene on 12 February 2008, Cayden tried walking unassisted a few steps. About 2 Wednesdays/Thursdays ago, he tried walking unassisted and fell hard! He had a bruise on his cheek subsequently. We think it hurts because when we touched his cheek and asked if it is pain, Cayden placed his palm on his head and stroked it twice as how we taught him to express his pain. Earlier this week on 19 February 08 @ 19:40 hrs, I received another SMS from Mummy Irene and the message reads:

"Cayden walks v far! He's going to make it b4 his birthday! He's v happy and kept showing off his skill with raised hands!"

I should also mention about his emotional intelligence developments too! He's pretty sensitive to the moods of the adults too. There's this dialect term "Sai Nai" to describe the way one tries to act innocent and cute. Cayden is good at sai-nai-ing! He knows if he made someone upset, he would give that someone a big kiss usually on the lips. Sometimes, he would just rest his head on someone's shoulder or bury his head into someone's neck, look at that individual's response and lay his head back onto the same spot. This usually sends most people at home melting!

Today marks Cayden's first year and first day arrival into our Family. His developments have been really impressive so far. His future ahead will be very bright!
