Feeding Time

Feeding time has always been the highlight of each day after Cayden arrived Simply because of the many facial expressions Cayden makes before, during and after feeding.

Like all babies, Cayden cries before feeding. Believe me.. he can get really really loud!

Then, sometimes just before he is given the bottle, he falls asleep! zzz zzz zzz...

Fun part comes when he is being patted to induce burps so as to prevent colic. Check out the various pleading look.......... so pathetic! HAHAHAHA!

As what Maslow Needs Theory states, humans require their basic needs to be fulfilled. Cayden never lacks Security, Food, Housing and Affection since he arrived. Do I need to justify this anymore? Check out the satiated look he gives after each feed.

What a Darling!!

Full Month Celebration!

Cayden celebrated his full month arrival with on 17 Mar 2007 albeit it was a few days earlier. In preparation of this party, Aunty Linda bought a couple of stuffs and realised one of the items wasn't really quite relevant on the actual day of celebration. Nonetheless this party banner will be pretty useful in 11 months time. :-)

Connoiseur received several gifts which includes ang pows, gold pendant, gold Anklet, toys and more toys!!!!!! He could not conceal his happiness when he received an Ang Pow from Aunt Linda and Uncle Sam. WAHAHAHAHAHA!
So what did Cayden wore on that day he made his first "public appearance" to his parents' relatives and friends..? The "Team" of fashion consultants comprised of Big Aunt, Third Aunt (Me) and Little Aunt had a discussion with Cayden's Mum to decide which outfit Cayden should be in. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of Cayden in the outfit but here is what we have selected complete with a Bunny Toy Accessory that matches with his grey jumper:

AWESOME.HANDSOME.WHOLESOME.

Cayden’s Habits (Present & Future)

Although arrived 3 weeks ago, I noticed Cayden has at least 2 prominent habits:

1) Airing his armpits… as you can see from most pictures!

2) Curling his second toe on top of his big toe on both feet

(Pictures taken on 3 Mar 07)

(Pictures taken on 10 Mar 07)
I wonder what other habits will be developed as we all nurture this little one. I have been wondering if Cayden will behave like other kids as he progresses into the toddler stage. I have heard from Baluku the horrible (but funny things) her niece Isabel (aka my Goddess) did:
  • Practised her writing and drawing skills on the inside of cabinets, the walls and sofa set.
  • Cried when she did not get the thing she wanted. Recently, Isabel has been really helpful and even offered her service to Baluku while she was wiping dinning table top. Btw, Isabel is just as tall as the dining table. The biggest problem was Isabel wasn't convinced cleaning the table top wasn't an easy and clean task for her. Baluku actually got Isabel to smell the sponge used for cleaning and Isabel said "Sponge doesn't smell dirty!". *FAINT*

How should I react if Er & Billy are not around to take over the disciplinary role? I’ll probably adopt the same thing Baluku did to Isabel -

  • Lecture Cayden with stern look (ok, i'll try to use eye power) and give him an eraser to remove the scribbles and drawings.
  • I doubt Cayden will be interested to help in the household chores. We'll figure out a way to deal with this when the time comes.

That will be at least 3 years later if I have to worry about how to deal with Cayden and his passion for household chores...

Cayden's Twin...

I visit Cayden almost every Saturday.

Typically the routine of each visit comprises photo shooting almost immediately after I step into the apartment. I'll take pictures whether Cayden is sleeping, drinking, exploring around or crying. Everyone is amused and impressed to see how much movements Cayden mastered over each week.

Its amazing to witness how he progresses.

Anyway, the good news is Cayden's cast can finally be removed this Friday! HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!

Last Saturday, I performed a miracle and found Cayden's Twin! I don't think anyone will resist submitting engagement proposals to get this pretty lass 25 years later. p(^_^)q

Slip of the Tongue is No Fault of the Mind

Two Saturdays ago, Wasabi said to Gor Gor Sam “I hope to see Ayden today. I have not seen Ayden for a long long time!!! I wonder if Ayden has grown bigger and if he can giggle…”

Gor Gor Sam looked at me and asked “What you talking about? Who is Ayden?”

I realized I had been giving Cayden another name... and this went one for
about one week since Cayden arrived.

That was a sign.

His brother should be call Ayden.

Hunk in the Making

Babies certainly change in terms of their appearance. Cayden is no exception...

Here’s what I mean:
Day 1 (21 Feb 2007)

Day 2 (22 Feb 2007)

Day 3 (23 Feb 2007)

Day 4 (24 Feb 2007)
Day 5 (25 Feb 2007) - HOT FAVOURITE PICTURE!!!

Day 8 (28 Feb 2007)

Day 11 (3 March 2007)

He never fails to surprise me everytime i see him... :)

Cayden has Relocated!

After staying in the hospital for an extra day Cayden made good progress. His jaundice condition improved and was allowed to return home. WOO HOO!

This young chap certainly appreciates the finer things in life. He managed to get me packing his room and decorating his cot which I rarely do it at home! Furthur he returned with a big bang! He rode in a Porsche from hospital.

Thanks to Billy’s friend (Mr. Porsche) who has kindly agreed to chauffeur Billy to and fro the hospital in his ride.

*Cayden bows deeply to Uncle Porsche*

Here’s how Cayden blends into his baby cot… seemingly contented and happy with an Ang Pow next to him
.

*Sweet Dreams*

Preparing for Cayden’s Relocation to Upper Serangoon

Initially after applying the cast, Cayden could be discharged from the hospital. Unfortuantely, he was unable to return home with Mummy on Sunday. His jaundice index went above 10 and the Doctor recommended that he remain in the nursery for another one day or two until the index falls to 10 or below. It was another day without seeing Cayden....

We proceeded home from TMC and started cleaning up the apartment since no one returned since last Wednesday. I had a good worked out! Sam Bao had great time snacking and watching TV.

Here are some pictures on Cayden’s room and bed. He ought to know that his Aunty (me) packed his wardrobe. ;-)

Surprises.. Unfortunately Unpleasant Ones

Last Friday, my Gor Gor Sam knew how badly I wanted to see Cayden and suggested that we could pop by Thomson Medical Center to visit Er (aka IN) and Cayden before meeting his relatives for dinner (Sweet Surprise).

When I arrived, I didn't see Cayden and started questioning in super high pitch tone. Er told me Cayden has been moved to a level above her ward and needed to be in ICU! He fractured his thigh bone (Surprise # 1). How did that fracture developed? Thoughts about nurses abusing Cayden started running through my mind.

My heart sank... but I decided to try my luck by check out the ICU. While I was walking towards the lift, I saw three gentlemen walking in my direction. Before I could reach out to the lift buttons, I saw them heading into Er's ward. I hurried back the room only to find that they are Gynae and Bone Specialists. Why are they here...??? (Surprise # 2)

What surprises me is the level of emotional intelligence exercised while the Doctors tried to explain Cayden's condition. Terminologies used by the doctors including "other normal babies" and “this is the first case in my entire career" added stress to the new parents (Surprise # 3). Such insensitive (and perhaps unconscious) comments didn't help when they tried to convince us that we shouldn't worry too much because babies have wonderful bone remodelling ability. Er started crying while the doctors continued to speak.

Mum and Father appeared really calm... they consoled Er and kept repeating the positive things the doctors said. Woo Hoo!

The doctors suggested to apply cast on Cayden's thighs and for this unexpected condition, Cayden had to be hospitalised for a couple of days for observation. Before his cast is applied, he has to remain in ICU. BILLY was given the opportunity to see Cayden the last time for that day. I followed. Er's Gynae encouraged her to cry out and stayed with her instead.

The nurses in the ICU ward were staring at me... I couldn't comprehend why. Anyways, I saw Cayden naked for the first time (kekekeke) and saw the injury on him. His right thigh was obviously bigger than the left. I said hi and he grabbed my index finger. :) When i said bye to Cayden, he made some noise (seems like he didn't want me to go). Before I stepped out of the ICU, a nurse on duty suddenly asked "Are you the parent of baby? If not you are not supposed to be here. Pls note that I am giving you exception for the first time. Next time you cannot come here.".
I wished someone could enlighten me - Who wants to keep returning to ICU for visiting? (Surprise # 4)

Arrival of Connoisseur Cayden Koh

This blog has been created for the purpose of recording the arrival of the latest addition to my family - Cayden Koh. Here's wishing all a Happy Chinese New Year!
Cayden symbolises the matrimony union between my second sister IN and BIL (Brother-In-Law). BIL is also affectionately known as BILLY.
I am Cayden's maternal Aunty! Fortunately Cayden is not a big bruiser (49 cm, 2.86 kg)!

The original intention was to receive him on a planned date but mother nature decided otherwise. Cayden arrived on 21 February 2007 at 5 pm and arrived like a big boss - CROSS-LEGGED! This golden piglet certainly made his presence felt among the doctors and nurses.

There were mixed feelings within the family. My folks couldn't stop grinning while my oldest and youngest sisters had to accept the fact that it means home cooked meals would be a sarcity at home from now... For me, I was rather disappointed (initially) to hear a baby boy arriving because I have always hoped for a niece. Dolling up a girl and playing with "mak-sak" seems so better than playing with aeroplanes and dismantling things. After seeing Cayden, I guess the gender doesn't really matter anymore. :)
